5 Items to add to your grocery list today to help you feel better (& lose weight!)

Dozen Farm Fresh EggsOrganic, free range eggs
Eggs are a perfect way to start your day. Think you have no time for breakfast? Think again — skipping breakfast or only drinking a cup ‘o Jo (or shudder Coke Zero) is making you gain weight in your mid section. Eating a protein-filled, hearty breakfast helps your body for the ENTIRE day. Eating within one hour of waking will HELP you lose weight.

Smoked SalmonWild cod or wild salmon
Delicious for lunch or dinner. Eat with a side of asparagus, broccoli, or spinach salad.  Skip the store bought dressing and make your own. Add some cauliflower mash potatoes or guacamole with carrot sticks for a super healthy meal that will help you lose weight and absorb minerals making you feel happy and healthy.

I buy wild cod and wild salmon in the Costco frozen section. Since they come in individual filets they are easy to defrost and have as a back-up meal any day.

KefirLactose Free Kefir
Add some probiotics to your day. Kefir is a lactose free yogurt that is packed with good-for-you probiotics. I have some around 3pm with fresh strawberries or blueberries (or organic frozen fruit when I can’t get to the farmers market) when I need a boost of energy to get through the rest of the afternoon.

KombuchaKombucha drink
Need a fizzy drink to replace your soda? Drink a fermented Kombucha. You’ll get abundant antioxidants including vitamins E, C, beta-carotene, and other carotenoids.  Its antioxidant activity has been found to be 100 times higher than vitamin C and 25 times higher than vitamin E.  Learn to (safely!) make your own, and get ridiculous amounts of probiotics.

AvocadoAvocados
Avocado is the new black! Add this very good fat source (remember good fats HELP you lose weight and stay healthy!) to your meals. Avocados can be eaten plain, made into guacamole, added to smoothies, or used as a sandwich spread (if you are eating breads, make sure they are made from     sprouted grains and not refined flours!).
